Audio-Described Live Theatre Performances for 2010-2011

From: Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library

Please come to the exciting blockbuster productions with audio
description during the upcoming 2010-2011 fall/winter theater season.

Audio description utilizes a radio receiver and a headset provided by the theater through which a trained audio describer provides live narration of the key visual elements of the performance. Audio description makes the performance accessible to viewers with visual impairments by describing the key visual elements such as description of the sets, the characters' actions, costumes, gestures, facial expressions and scene changes. Being able to understand these visual elements is often essential to fully understanding the show. The description takes place during natural pauses in the production's dialogue.
