New! Talking LabQuest Provides Independent Lab Access for Students with Visual Impairments

After years of federally-funded research (thanks to the National Science Foundation), Independence Science has developed the Talking LabQuest to allow students with visual impairments to independently collect scientific data in real-time. The device, a hand-held computer by Vernier Software & Technology, has been adapted with the ISci Voice Plug-in to announce data measurements. Packages are available for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or can be customized to fit any specific curriculum. Features include:
  • Hand-held device for field activities or classroom experiments
  • Talking, real-time data readings for experiment participation
  • View interactive, audible Periodic table with 20 audible descriptors for each element
  • Navigate the device with spoken menus
  • Choose additional languages: English, German, French, Spanish + more

Check it out at this Independence Science Web page.
