We have just become aware of a company called Nistec LTD, who produces a product called the TapMemo. It is a voice activated personal data assistant for the Blind & Visually Impaired.
TapMemo is a revolutionary, handheld, battery powered, voice activated personal assistant. It contains only one, multi-functional button and two volume buttons. All verbal commands used to operate TapMemo are based on speaker independent voice recognition technology which means that you do not need to train the unit - it will work 'right out of the box'!!!
TapMemo's main features include:
- Memo Pad - contains up to 30 voice memo's, each up to 60 seconds long
- Phone Book - contains up to 60 names; with additional features listed on their website
- Calendar - contains up to 30 appointments, each having a reminder
- Alarm Clock - 24-hour cycle included; progressive wake up mechanism that will increase the volume gradually
- Locking Command - lock the unit against unwanted use and protect your personal data stored
- Unit Locator - whistling will cause the unit to speak a high volume, short phrase that will enable you to locate the unit around the house
- Talking Clock - separate time and date voice commands
- Verbal battery level indicator
- Verbal free memory indicator
 TapMemo is powered by an internal, rechargeable battery (charges in less than 4 hours) which can supply more than 10 active working hours and more than 11 months in standby mode between each charge.
Also included is an earphone jack, a charging jack and a belt clip on its back side. |
