ASHA Special Interest Division 12, Augmentative and Alternative
Communication, is pleased to invite your participation at its 9th Annual
Conference,Toward Linguistic Competence in AAC: Building and
Re-building Language.

Where - The Westin Long Beach, Long Beach, CA
When - February 22-24, 2008
This topic should appeal to those interested in meeting the language
assessment and intervention/rehabilitation needs of developing children
and/or adults with acquired medical conditions who rely on AAC. The
language focus will involve the components of syntax, morphology, and
semantics.
Keynote speakers will be Dr. Marc Fey, discussing grammatical
intervention for children with language impairments, and  Dr. Leonard
LaPointe, discussing issues pertaining to linguistic competence in the
area of aphasia. Simultaneous presentations will allow participants to
select an adult or child track focusing on language assessment and
intervention issues. Technological supports for linguistic performance
and cultural considerations will also be addressed.
