National Technical Assistance Project for Assistive Technology Act Programs

PROJECT COORDINATOR

 

RESNA, an interdisciplinary association for the advancement of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology is looking for an individual to fill a full-time position on a federally-funded grant. The grant provides technical assistance and information to assistive technology programs funded under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998. 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  To plan, coordinate and carry out activities that will assist statewide AT programs and microloan programs provide services to people with disabilities to access and acquire assistive technology and provide business loans to people with disabilities to purchase business equipment as outlined in grant application and cooperative agreement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Develops and implements methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of project operations to address the needs of constituent groups.

·        Develops and implements methods to assess needs of constituent groups, allocates resources and implements appropriate activities to respond to the needs.

·        Assist in the development of processes and procedures to delivery training and technical assistance to constituent groups.

·        Coordinates and/or serves on special ad-hoc committees, task forces, and/or working groups related to implementation of project activities.

·        Identify technical assistance and training needs of statewide AT programs and financial loan programs and develop yearly technical assistance plan.

·        Coordinate teleconference, webinars, meetings, conferences and workshops on behalf of the technical assistance project including convening planning committees.

·        Identify and organize information to be posted on project's web site

·        Analyze and synthesize information and write summaries, reports and articles

·        Represent the project at meetings and conferences

·        Coordinate the development of materials that can be used to respond to requests for information and respond to information requests.

 

Additionally, this position will entail other duties as assigned. Some travel involved.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        Masters degree preferred

·        Superior writing and communication skills as well as organizational skills.

·        Knowledge of assistive technology and disability issues required.  Knowledge of microloan programs a plus.

·        Ability to manage large scale as well as small scale activities and work with staff, constituent groups and others.

·        Knowledge of effective technical assistance techniques/methods used to deliver services to state programs as a whole and individually.

·        Outstanding interpersonal skills, political acumen, and ability to work effectively as a leader and as a member of a team essential.

·        Proven experience working on a state or national level.

·        Proficiency with computer applications especially Microsoft Office and electronic communications.

·        Experience managing/operating federal grants helpful.
