WEBED-GMU02: Decoding Mobile Technologies: Review of accessibility features of Android, iOS, and other mobile operating systems
DATE: Thursday, May 19 at 12:30-2 p.m. Eastern Time

Korey Singleton, from GMU, will highlight the increasing accessibility of mobile technology and how it is providing more opportunities in the workplace, in education, and at home for individuals with disabilities.  Specific emphasis will be on Smartphone technologies.  Although a few apps will be discussed, this webinar will focus more on the universally designed features (I.e., text-to-speech, voice recognition, text messaging functions, home remote control solutions; scanning text, GPS, etc.) that are available on today's mobile devices.  This session will include a discussion of the various features available, brief demonstrations of how some of these tools work, as well as product comparisons.

Learning Objectives
1.  Learn about the built-in tools/features that enable access to mobile technologies for individuals with disabilities.

2.  Discuss the differences and similarities, in terms of accessibility, between the different mobile operating systems.

3.  Understand and identify which mobile operating systems provide the greatest level of access to users of a specific disability type (e.g., vision loss).
