Portable Assistive Technology

Presented by
Kristi Voelkerding, BS, COTA/L, ATP, ROH

Portable technologies are helping redefine the mandate for least restrictive environment and boosting student independence. With portable technologies the students who had been anchored in special education and resource rooms may now be mainstreamed and included in the general classroom. This session will include demonstration of free tools that attendees will be able to use immediately upon return to their workplace.

Learning Objectives:
  • List and obtain at least 5 free assistive technology programs that will run directly from a flash drive
  • Learn how to reduce the cost of providing assistive technology software to users who desire and need to use it
  • Be able to implement knowledge attained immediately upon returning to your workplace
