HandySpeech mobile app helps disabled

HandySpeech application, the only handwriting-to-speech application on the app store makes communication possible to people who are unable to use their voice.

HandySpeech was created by 12-year-old software developer Eric Zeiberg, who was inspired to create the application by his sister - an autistic individual with speech disabilities.

HandySpeech supplements or even replaces speech for people with spoken language difficulties. It is easiest and fastest way to carry quick and casual conversation. The application helps people with variety of speech or language impairments, including autism, stuttering, stroke, muscular dystrophy, oral, throat and neck cancer, and others.

Users write what they want to say and the software converts the handwriting into speech. The app is available for iPad, iPad Mini and soon for iPhone.

The application list of features includes:
  • Multilingual support with 13 major languages in a male or female voice
  • Adaptive learning of your writing patterns
  • Context analyzer: automatic correction based on context
  • User dictionary: words not in the main dictionary, such as rare names can be saved in the user dictionary
  • Alternative keyboard input
  • Cursive, PRINT, and mixed handwriting style recognition
  • Ability to write with your finger or stylus
  • Use of simple finger gestures to insert special characters such as space and return.

HandySpeech app and it's story was featured in the Hartford Courant article, FoxCT Morning Show and NBC News

The HandySpeech application was developed by iSpeak4U, LLC., a Connecticut software development company offering mobile, web and server applications for customers worldwide.
