Make the most of your students' AAC systems and remember to teach CORE VOCABULARY!

Help break the ceiling on language development for users of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)

If you already understand the core vocabulary concept and supporting data, check out this post from the PrAACtical AAC blog which details 5 simple steps to get you started:

  1. Forgive yourself for not knowing it all--just keep learning!
  2. Make a copy of the student's display for the communication partner.
  3. Use and practice on the same display as the student.
  4. Pick one core word to teach at a time.
  5. Share what you've learned with others--Spread the word!
