True or False?
Another AT and the IEP pop quiz!
Schools may make policies prohibiting the taking of school property home if the AT devices are expensive or breakable.
Answer: FALSE. Blanket policies limiting taking school property home cannot be applied when the AT is in a student's IEP and the need to use it at home is specified. The need for the AT at home should be part of the process when individualizing the student's educational program. While the school may make such a policy, it will be "trumped" if there is a particular need expressed in the IEP.
