Consumer Advocacy for Assistive Technology

Need help accessing a funding source or AT service? Frustrated with a denial for services? Advocacy assistance may be available to you. A range of public and private organizations and programs offer tools and help free of charge.

    No matter what AT funding source you pursue, these general advocacy resources and organizations may save you a lot of time.
  • Children's Advocacy
    Get help navigating special education services and health programs for children with disabilities.
  • Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Advocacy
    Get help with communication access and ADA compliance, with public benefits that may pay for AT as well as self-advocacy training, and community-based AT services.
  • Medical Advocacy
    Get help advocating for durable medical equipment, for handling disputes with public and private health insurance providers, and with accessing state and federal health programs (such as MassHealth).
  • Social Security Advocacy
    Get help obtaining federal SSI or SSDI benefits, and making work incentive programs work for you.
  • Veterans Advocacy
    Get help accessing benefits that can pay for AT, appealing claim denials, or appealing the quality of your medical care.
